A FAREWELL TO ON DEMAND

Thank you for using Freeview On Demand. It’s been a good run, but our On Demand service is set to end on 12 December 2022.

You won't be able to watch shows On Demand through Freeview after December 12th, but as with watching On Demand through TVNZ+, you can still enjoy those shows on ThreeNow, Māori+ and RNZ, wherever they’re available.

EVERYTHING ELSE IS STILL HERE

You don't need to do any thing to keep watching Live TV and accessing other Freeview features, as they are distinct from On Demand. The same channels, diverse range of shows and the 8-day TV Guide will still be available on Freeview.

If you have a Freeview Recorder, you'll still be able to record any broadcast to watch at your leisure. And yes, every thing on Freeview remains free of charge.

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR THE A2?

Since you won't be able to watch shows On Demand through Freeview after December 12th, certain Main Menu options will no longer work on the A2. So to help accommodate this change, we've provided a new Software Update for the A2 - Version 1.50

To update the Software Version on your A2, please follow the below steps:

Step 1: Download the Software Update

Step 2: Open the Settings Menu

  • Press the "O" button on the Remote, to access the Android TV Home Screen.
  • From the Android TV Home screen, in the top-right, select the "Settings" (COG) icon.
  • Use the ◀ ▶ ▼ ▲ buttons on the Remote to navigate the Home Screen.

Step 3: Select the USB Device

  • Follow the steps according to the Android TV Settings Menu.
  • Select System → About → Local Update → sdb1.
  • Use the ▼ ▲ buttons on the Remote to navigate the Settings Menu.

Step 4: Confirm the Software Update

  • You'll see "copying update.zip to cache, please wait", this can take 2-4 minutes.
  • You'll then be prompted with "Are you sure you want to Upgrade", select OK.
  • The A2 will reboot and install the Software Update, this can take 2-4 minutes.

NOTE: If you want to confirm what Software Version your A2 currently has installed, go to Menu → Settings → Advanced Settings → System Info → Software Version.
